FINE FINISHINGS WITH HOLLI YEOH
We all learned so much from the Intarsia workshop with Holli Yeoh in May, so we are pleased to collaborate with her again to offer her series of Fine Finishing workshops. Her passion for knitting has spanned a lifetime, from learning to knit as a child to her fine arts degree in textiles and jewelry, to a 20-year designing career. Holli feels strongly about fine craftsmanship, believing that while there’s more than one right way to do things, it’s important to do it right! To this end, she teaches skills that enable knitters to feel justified pride in their finished projects, while accommodating different knitting styles and preferences. Students leave her workshops with an arsenal of valuable techniques, deep understanding of the choices to be made in knitting, and new confidence. Find her patterns on Ravelry, LoveCrafts, and Makerist, and follow her work on Instagram at @holliyeoh and her website at holliyeoh.com
We’re offering 3 virtual evening workshops with Holli. Homework is involved for each of them (assorted small knitted swatches). If you register for all three at once on the website, use this code to receive a 15% discount: HolliYeoh3
DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS BELOW
Beginnings: August 4, 2021 ● 7 - 9 pm Mountain Time
Before you begin a project, you should consider your finishing techniques. You’ll learn tips and tricks that will make your finishing easier and more polished, rivaling commercially made garments. We’ll work on cast ons, selvedges, tension issues and gauge, fully fashioned increases and decreases.
After all the pieces of your project are completed you’ll want to prepare them for assembly and wearing. In the Endings class we will cover bind offs, blocking, picking up stitches and if time permits, buttonholes.
Make sure to give your knitting the attention it deserves when seaming your garments; now is not the time to do a rush job! In this class, you’ll have a chance to try your hand at mattress stitch on both stockinette and garter stitch as well as false grafting and joining stitches to rows. We’ll discuss the merits of seamed garments, including reinforced seams, and cover other seaming techniques as time permits. Let’s not forget those ends; we’ll cover several ways to weave in your ends.
August 28 - Noon - 4:00pm

We suggest purchasing the book and reading through before deciding on yarn.
