November 3 & 4
Anna joins us to teach four different patterns from her book featuring the "marlisle" technique, a novel approach to stranded knitting. All classes are Intermediate/advanced beginner level classes designed for students who have experience with colorwork and are confident knitting in the round with Double Point Needles or Magic Loop. Steeking experience is not required.
Hozkwoz Hat November 3 from 9-12 $60 plus supplies
This hat is an excellent introduction to the Marlisle technique. It's worked in quarters from the top down, starting with a pin-hole cast on. You'll learn about the function and application of decorative seams, garter stitch in the round, Marlisle, and a new increase that works wonders when using two yarns together.
Tiny Ess Shawl November 3 from 1-4 $60 plus supplies
This class will create a condensed version of the Ess Shawl in order to understand all the techniques needed for the full sized version. It's an intro to Marlisle and the principals of the knotted steek. The knotted steek is an unusual approach to steeking that is ideal for maintaining the stretchiness of knitted fabric. In the Ess Shawl, it creates an attractive fringed edge! Knotted Steeks are used in the Shantay Cardi and Ruperto Scarf within the Marlisle book as well, so you'll have a good foundation for these designs.
Kraii Mitts November 4 from 9-12 $60 plus supplies
Kraii Mitts are a small project (perfect quick gift, folks!) inspired by old fashioned leather driving gloves with arrows on the fronts that echo birds in flight or road markings. There's an interesting chart to follow and buttonhole construction thumb that's likely to improve all future buttonholes. Traveling stitches will be covered, Marlisling from a chart, a variety of increases and decreases, and transitioning between colors for Marlisle.
Selbbob Hat November 4 from 1-4 $60 plus supplies
This class will cover the swatch for Selbbob so that you can confidently continue this cute design. Marlisling with one as the feature color is the focus. Other important skills covered will include casting on and off for corrugated rib, avoiding the pitfalls of corrugated rib with tension and needle size, color placement, swatching in the round, knitting backwards, and forming a perfect bobble. Needles with good pointy tips are suggested for successful bobbles.
