Intro to Spinning
Saturday, August 20 ● 10am - 3pm, with a lunch break.
Have you ever wanted to try spinning your own yarn? Here's your chance. This workshop will introduce you to spinning on a spinning wheel. We will talk about different considerations you might think about for spinning, different types of yarn and the start to finish process of spinning. You can expect to leave with a spun single and a better knowledge of yarn that will carry over into your knitting and/or crocheting. If you have a working wheel, bring it!
Laura will have roving available for purchase.
Laura Murray is the dyer behind Running On Yarn. She has been dying yarn for 5 years and started Running On Yarn to share her love of color with others in the fiber arts field. She has also been spinning and knitting since about 10 years old. When she is not dying yarn, knitting, or spinning, she works as a Physical Therapist assistant, spends time with her family and loves the outdoors.
Her therapy background provides a unique holistic viewpoint that feeds into her love of teaching. She has been teaching knitting for 10 years and more recently has been teaching spinning and mentoring others to fearlessly try new things within their craft.
