My First Summer Tee Class is designed to help beginning level knitters learn to knit their first summer top. Knitters will choose either the Anker Tee or the Anker’s Summer Shirt, which are both worked from the top down. The yoke for both is worked in sections of rib with increases in the round, followed by classic raglan increases when the stockinette stitch section begins. The sleeves are worked at the end, either on double-pointed needles or on circular needles using the Magic Loop technique. There is no finishing other than weaving in ends and blocking.

To be successful in the class knitters should know how to cast on, knit and purl. Cindy will teach the rest.

Anker Tee requires fingering/sport weight yarn and sizes size 2-3 needles, or size to create gauge.
The Anker’s Summer Shirt requires DK weight yarn and size 6 needles or size to create
gauge. Both tops are designed by PetiteKnit.

The First Summer Tee Class will be held over 5 weeks, and Cindy will teach how to read
the pattern, join and knit in the round, make YO increases for the yoke, how to divide
for sleeves and finish the body. Sleeves come last, and Cindy will teach how to do a
stretchy bind off at the bottom of the top and sleeves.

PRE-CLASS HOMEWORK:  Decide which pattern you will make.  Purchase your pattern, yarn and supplies.  Determine your gauge.  Knit a swatch with recommended needle size to make sure you have the correct number of stitches per inch.  If there are too many stitches per inch, increase the needles size.  If there are too few stitches per inch, go down a needle size.
