First Sweater with Paul Haesemeyer
Dates: October 24, 31, November 7, 14 & 21 • 10 - Noon
Skill Level: Beginner / Advanced Beginner
Paul Haesemeyer guides you through making a simple, wearable sweater from start to finish using the Worsted Basic Drop Shoulder pattern designed by James Watts.
The Worsted Basic Drop Sleeve Sweater is a straightforward top-down design in comfortable worsted-weight yarn. You’ll learn the fundamentals of sweater construction, including shaping, joining pieces, ribbing, and finishing. The body can be knit in the round or flat, but Paul encourages first-time sweater knitters to work it flat—it gives you valuable practice with seaming and helps build confidence with garment construction.
If you choose the flat method, Paul will walk you through using mattress stitch to create neat, polished side and shoulder seams.
A great first sweater project: simple enough to be approachable, but packed with skills you’ll use on sweaters for years to come.
Homework: Please work a flat swatch and have it prepared for your first class.
Sample is knit with Noro Ito. but any worsted will work. 10% discount for class supplies. If choosing the bulky pattern,
