Late Summer Knitting Series at Yarn Bar – Level Up Your Skills!

Ready to take your knitting to the next level? Whether you’re an adventurous beginner, a confident intermediate, or a seasoned stitcher, this Lunch & Learn Summer Knitting Series is for you!

Join us for six skill-building sessions designed to expand your technique, spark your creativity, and deepen your understanding of the art of knitting — all in a relaxed, one-hour midday format.

If there is homework listed, it is important to have that prepared in advance.

Session Dates & Topics:

(Saturdays, 12–1 PM)

  • September 12: Working with Summer Yarns
  • September 26: Round & Round Tips & Tricks
  • October 3:  Seaming 3 Ways
  • October 10: Slipped Stitches & Mosaic Knitting
  • October 17: Stranded Colorwork
  • October 24: Knitting Colorwork Flat

 Cost:

  • $15 per session

Sept 12: Summer Yarns

  • Students will be provided sample yarns.
  • Students should bring size 5-8 needles of their choice.
  • Students may want to bring their own yarns but not required.

Sept 26: Round & Round

  • Demonstrations on several ways to work in the round.  
  • Students may want to bring circular, double pointed or other needles and yarn to practice. 
  • Various needles and yarns will be available.

October 3: Seaming Three Ways.

  • Demonstrations on swatches.
  • Swatches will be provided for practice
  • Students may want to bring personal projects to seam.
  • Students should bring tapestry needles.
  • Homework for one swatch:  Knit 2 swatches of 20 stitches and 10 rows in stockinette stitch.  Do Not Bind Off…Leave the stitches on the needles.  This will require 2 sets of needles.

Oct 10: Stranded Colorwork

  • Color Dominance and Two Handed Knitting to Even Out Tension.
  • Students should bring yarns of equal weights in at least 2 colors and cast on and join in the round, then knit in rib for 1 inch to be ready to practice.
  • Patterns for color work will be provided.

Oct 17 - Slipped Stitches and Mosaic Knitting

  • Demonstrations will include how to read the charts (provided) and how to work the stitches.
  • For Slipped Stitches: Students should bring 3 colors of yarns of the same weight, with needles the  size to match the suggested gauge for the yarn.
  • For Mosaic Knitting: Students should bring 2 colors of yarns in different colors with needles to match the suggested gauge for the yarn.
  • Patterns for washcloths will be provided

Oct 24 - Working Colorwork Flat

  • Students should bring yarns of equal weights in at least 2 colors and cast on 30 sts and knit in rib for 1 inch to practice.
  • Pattern for color work will be provided.
