  • Needle: 4,5 mm | 7 US | 7 UK
  • Gauge: 18 stitches, 28 rows per 4"
  • Usage: Sweater in size small ~ 13 oz | 350g (14 Balls)
  • Yarn Weight: 25 g | 0.88 oz ~ Ball

Called the ships of the desert for their endurance and ability to cope with the heat and lack of water, Bactrian camels are known for their long, lustrous hair. They have two layers of hair: guard hair, the outer one which is coarse and straight; and the undercoat, which is soft and fine.  Bactrian camels face freezing winters and scorching summers, but their undercoat offers exceptional insulation, keeping them warm during the cold months and cool during the warm season. It is precisely this layer of hair (also called baby Camel hair) that we have used for our yarn.

Instead of the typical single or plied yarn, Pascuali Camel DK is a chained yarn. The texture, colour and the natural world make this sand dune-inspired yarn truly unique:

  • Lightweight • Super soft  • Stretchy  • Not Itchy  • Thermoregulating  • Biodegradable

Because it is a chained yarn, Pascuali Camel DK is extraordinarily lightweight and stretchy. Garments knit with it allow free body movement yet return to their original shape making them resistant to wrinkling and sagging.  And because of the chains and how they’re locked in, it hardly pills. It is nearly as soft as cashmere with very high thermoregulating properties keeping you warm in winter and nice and cool in the summer. What's more, Camel wool is an entirely biodegradable fibre, which means that it does not contribute to pollution when it is discarded.

Care

We recommend hand washing Camel DK knits in lukewarm water with a mild detergent for wool. Then dry flat, preferably on a terry towel, to avoid deformation. Please do not dry directly on a heat source or in the blazing sun!
