We’ve always enjoyed the Cocoknits notions and pattern designs, so when we saw that a sweater workshop book was set for release, Sue placed a pre-order for her home library right away. When the book arrived, we knew it was a gem but we were in the thick of business planning so we told our friend Becky about it. She jumped right in to making a sweater using the Cocoknits Method. She raved about how much she liked it every time we talked to her, and we knew that a lot of our knitting friends would enjoy learning this method that Julie Weisenberger developed.
So we now have this great knit along planned for the month of October, which also happens to be Slow Fashion October. What’s slow fashion? Well, as Makers, we all are embracing this in varying ways. Basically, it comes down to putting some thought into whether we buy and wear super cheap clothes that are then discarded quickly and replaced. Back to the KAL. Julie Weisenberger’s top down sweater method creates a very well-fitted garment through the shoulders, and the designs that go from there are for contemporary, classic sweaters. We want to make all of them, and our daughters have each requested one too! Becky finished her first one and immediately started another, so she’ll be able to provide lots of tips to get us going, and keep us going. Also, Julie has video support for yarn shops who offer the method. We will start with a workshop on October 7th, lead by Becky, and then meet on Monday afternoons or evenings (you choose) to see how our sweaters are progressing. We can hardly wait!
