We have had the privilege of being a small part of Bonnie Dean's latest sweater pattern launch process and it's been pretty fun. She knit the prototype for Sue's daughter over the summer. Our part started with extremely specific measurements, we heard a little about "the sweater design vision" . . . and while later Bonnie had to pin down a super busy high school graduate for fittings (between her server job and vacation and prepping for college move), and then squeeze in an early morning photo shoot.
Not only was Bonnie dealing with busy teenager schedule, but she was juggling her own full time job, the passing of her mother this summer, and getting herself and husband organized for his major medical procedure in September!
She's kind of a Wonder Woman, really.
We know there was also pattern layout, editing, deadlines, and arranging for Test Knitters for all sizes - We knew two of these test knitters quite well so we got some sneak peaks of Fanad Head WIPs - EXCITING!!!
We answered some questions for The Fibre Co.'s blog . . .
And now The Release has happened! Bonnie has a Ravelry Knitalong going, we started one with our Yarn Bar family (technique workshop coming up again on 22nd Monday), several sweaters-to-be have left the shop, and everyone's ooooing and ahhhhhing over the Fanad Head. The combination of Arranmore yarn and the gorgeous design are a perfect match. We can't wait to see more of the Fanad Head sweaters out in the world.
Cheers to our Local Independent Designer Bonnie Dean, and to The Fibre. Co. for their support of designers like Bonnie, and to all Yarn Bar Friends who enjoy Bonnie's designs. Thanks for reading along!
