There's something pretty irresistible about the shape of a house when it is scaled down and created with yarn and needles. During this pandemic it seems like knitted houses might be popping up a bit more. Maybe it's becoming the Year Of The House? We've got a few favorites in a variety of projects to point out in case you feel like knitting cute houses while staying close to home.
The Nineteen Hundred House Dishcloth by Amanda Ochoki has been our favorite for years. Tweek it from dishcloth mode by knitting coaster sized with fingering weight yarn, to a pillow top with super-bulky. Sue's house cushion is in the UK; I backed it with fabric but it would also be very sweet made with two different colored knitted houses.
We've loved this adorable Little House from Fifty Four Ten Studio for a long time. Mary Lee has put in many ideas and templates in the pattern to customize a whole village if you want.
There's also this darling Big Red Barn.
And Susan B. Anderson put her spin on a house softie with this one.
How about this cute Gingerbread Houses hat? Worsted colorwork goes fast! Try it in Germantown.
There are a couple of stranded colorwork yoked house themed sweater patterns to check out:
and Crofthoose Yoke by Ella Gordon, perfect in Finullgarn
The Safe At Home Blanket quickly jumped to near pandemic level numbers on Ravelry as folks started working on this one. It's really nice for using little bits of leftover yarns.
