Market Report 2018

Market Report 2018

Posted by Linda Heins on

We left the shop in the very capable hands of Susan, Becky, and Ashley for our second trip to Yarn Market, a.k.a. "TNNA". I won't go into big details, but we do want you all to know that we found some very fun and lovely new products for our little shop. Be on the lookout for new lines and merchandise coming in July, August, and September.

We feel like we do a pretty good job at keeping up with new products via email contact with our vendors and reps, but there is honestly nothing better than seeing merchandise "in person". I think we can all relate to the difference between shopping online versus being able to actually touch and look at something in a beautiful and/or creative booth. We absolutely loved visiting with all our vendors face to face instead of via email or phone.

Also, being in a huge space full of friendly fellow yarn shop owners and spying the occasional "knitting celebrity" is invigorating.

This time around, we were better at visiting with random yarn shop owners too. We chatted with a lovely lady from Puerto Rico who has been attending TNNA for 10 years for her annual buying trip. She showed us wonderful projects that her customers make - lots of beautiful crocheting for babies happening over there (...and the island still not even fully recovered with electricity after Hurricane Maria). We also asked a fellow yarn shop owner we saw walking past the restaurant where we were dining to join our table one evening. It was great to visit with her about her Shop.

Finally, we liked Cleveland! Next year's market is scheduled to be there again and we are looking forward to a bit more exploration of the city's neighborhoods. It is good to be back home looking forward to the arrival of what we ordered, and to think about all the potential projects......  Thanks for reading along!
