Three Small September Knits

Three Small September Knits

Posted by Kosmos Central Collaborator on

Not all of us knit sweaters or blankets! And everyone's on the lookout for a relatively quick new project idea - here are three that we think are worth considering.

For DK weight yarn, check out this cute hat that Karen created. She added a strand of mohair, which doesn't change the gauge and really adds that beautiful halo. The fabric you make can look so different, depending upon what shade of mohair you use (match the background, pull out a speck of color, or go with a completely opposite shade of mohair for a vibrant marl . . .) !

And if you aren't a mohair fan, this hat looks great without it too!

Pattern:  Shady Grove

For Worsted weight yarn, here's a fun cowl using a cake of Freia gradient. Ashley knit our sample using a skein of Spud & Chloe Sweater for the contrast to make a squishy pop-of-color-accent for cold days ahead. That extra little layer around your neck makes all the difference!!!

This pattern was literally made for Freia, and we have a rainbow of cakes for you to pick from. Dream, Sweater, or Germantown would be the perfect contrast.

Finally, here's the classic Perfectly Easy Beanie with fantastic hot pink pops. Linda tweaked her design a bit by cinching up the decreases before there were only 6 stitches left. Also, she cast on and knit the first round with hot pink before switching to ribbing and the main color. We've put together some kits with enough Spicy Hot Pink Dream and Mohair So Soft to make your own; choose any of the Dream shades for a soft and quick hat.
