We welcome Paul Haesemeyer to our team. Paul joins us temporarily as he is in his hometown for a bit. For Paul, knitting is like a second language! We're eager to have his knitting talents, of course - but he also has a brand new degree in costume design, and that twenty-something vibe to help keep us on our toes. We plan to put him in charge of a couple of special projects in the shop and we're also delighted to have him help on the floor.
We've kind of watched Paul grow up; his mom is a wonderful knitter and Paul tagged along to the yarn shop with her. His love of costume design may have started when he knit stuff for his younger sister's Barbies. Paul comes to us fresh off an internship with the Santa Fe Opera, where he worked as a stitching apprentice on the leading ladies team!
In 2019 he interned with the Williamstown Theater Festival. The highlight of that experience was knitting a shawl for Uma Thurman.
He's spent a semester in NYC with the New York Arts Program, spending time at The Metropolitan Opera and off Broadway at the New Light Theater Project.
Paul's next plan is to find employment in his field, save some money, and eventually land in New York. The sky's the limit for this talented and kind young man. We're lucky he has a little time on the journey to share with the Yarn Bar.
